DIY : Bath Bombs! Step by Step Guide.

1 Jul

Hi peeps! Shall I tell you a new hobby of mine (some of my Keek followers may know this already)? Making bath bombs!! I’m so crazy about this lately, they are so easy to make and would make a great gift for your loved ones and friends. And, i must add that it is a good stress buster as well (not that Im stressed-out at the moment). I’m making this for a friend of mine whose birthday was more than a week ago, but both of us had been busy. Dr. Karmini whom I’ve known the last 5 years is also my personal doctor…oh yes, I dont treat myself, it’s a principle of mine 🙂

So, let’s start …

1. Take 1 part of citric acid and pour it into a big mixing bowl. Citric acid is what gives the bath bombs fizzing action. I bought mine at Soap Artisan at Publika, KL. The pack was priced at RM10. It’s cheap and 1 pack can make many!

If you cant find citric acid, use cream of tar tar. Easily available at the supermarket. You would need half part instead.

DIY : Cinnamon Mask & Spot Treatment

22 Feb

Inexpensive and natural. Nothing beats DIYs straight from your kitchen. Suffice to know that if all skincare companies in the world close down (as if that would ever happen :p), rest assure that your grocery store can fix your skin issues! 🙂

I did a post on DIY using Aspirin, 2 weeks ago and the feedback from my readers were very interesting. I have previously tried some of the tips they mentioned with variable results, but somehow I was prompted to give cinnamon another try. The thing about cinnamon is that I was always too lazy to grate it, so I only used it when I could get my mom to do it for me (spoil brat I know..I know :p).

I did a little research about skincare and cinnamon with Dr. Google and found out that it is widely known across the globe and indeed a popular DIY tip! Silly me, I thought only the Malays do this (coz I imagined ‘makcik-makcik’ and my mom grating the cinnamons :p ) * slaps face. Haih!

DIY : Aspirin Scrub & Mask

11 Feb

Headache. Pain. Guess what, your aspirin has other benefits! So, the next time you pop a pill in your mouth, be sure to give yourself a beauty treatment once the symptom resolved :).  Not only that it’s a cheap beauty alternative, (the one I bought was RM12 for 24 tablets), the best part is, it really works!

Aspirin scrub and mask are hot discussions on beauty forums on the net. In fact, if you googled aspirin mask, you’d find various recipes that apparently works for many especially those with oily and acne-prone skin. Aspirin or acetylsalycilic acid (ASA) is an over-the-counter (OTC) medication that is used as analgesia (pain reliever), anti-inflammatory and antipyretic (to reduce fever). In the beauty world, it works by removing dead cells and the top layer of the epidermis thus making it an effective remedy to treat whiteheads, blackheads and acne. Plus, it also helps to improve the appearance of wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Aspirin is never in my medicine box ( just like how baking soda is never in my kitchen, another beauty DIY) but has always been on my vanity dresser (I hate taking medicine)…hehe.
